Position Responsibilities
Build and govern the regional system that converts coffee expertise into consistent capability, certification and championship performance across ZUS Coffee and ZUS Signature. The role establishes the standards, pathways, assessment discipline and talent pipeline required to strengthen coffee authority at scale.
1. Regional Coffee Capability Strategy
- Set the regional coffee capability roadmap in alignment with business, brand, product and operational priorities.
- Define progressive competency pathways from Zurista fundamentals through specialist, Coffee Coach, assessor and Coffee Excellence leadership levels.
- Diagnose capability gaps by market, store concept and role, prioritise action based on business risk and impact.
2. Technical-to-Capability Translation
- Act as the structured capability bridge between Regional Product/R&D, Regional Academy, country Academies and Retail Operations.
- Convert approved coffee knowledge, recipes, equipment requirements and technical standards into role competencies, learning journeys and validation criteria.
- Ensure technical changes reach the field through controlled versioning, clear ownership, readiness checks and feedback loops.
3. Standards, Certification & Assessment Governance
- Establish and maintain competency standards, certification requirements, assessment tools and recertification rules for coffee-related roles.
- Build and calibrate Coffee Coaches, assessors and subject-matter experts to ensure reliable assessment decisions.
- Continuously benchmark globally recognized coffee standards, professional certification pathways and championship frameworks, and adapt relevant practices to ZUS operating realities without compromising technical quality.
4. Barista Championship Strategy & Talent Pipeline
- Own the multi-year pathway from internal competitions and BOTZ through national championships towards the world stage.
- Establish transparent talent identification, selection, coaching, readiness and succession processes with clear calendars and milestones.
- Maintain current rules, scoring and judging standards, embed calibration, performance review and post-competition learning while managing conflicts of interest.
5. ZUS Coffee & ZUS Signature Capability
- Govern the enterprise-wide coffee capability framework for ZUS Coffee, covering Zurista foundations, advanced coffee skills, Coffee Coach, assessor and Coffee Excellence pathways across operating markets.
- Establish consistent learning, practice, assessment and certification standards while enabling appropriate market adaptation.
- Define the specialist capability layer for ZUS Signature, covering Signature Zurista, Lead Signature Zurista, Coffee Coach and Coffee Excellence Lead roles.
- Maintain one integrated architecture, with ZUS Coffee as the enterprise-wide foundation and ZUS Signature as a differentiated specialist pathway.
- Advise country Academy, Operations and Signature leadership on capability readiness and talent risks, while keeping manpower and day-to-day execution with the respective Operations teams.
6. Regional Enablement, Governance & Industry Leadership
- Enable country Academy and Operations teams to deploy regional standards through train-the-trainer, coaching, calibration and field support.
- Establish dashboards covering readiness, certification health, coach coverage, capability risk and championship progress.
- • Represent ZUS in approved coffee-industry forums and lead through influence across markets, escalating material risks and corrective action.
