Regional Lead, UI/UX  

Position Responsibilities
As the Regional Lead, UI/UX, you will own the regional UX vision, design strategy, and consumer app experience across all markets. In addition to leading the regional UI/UX design organization, this role carries an added responsibility of acting as a Product Manager to drive squad-level delivery for the consumer app. You will report directly to the Head of Digital Product

1. UI/UX Leadership & Design Strategy (Primary Focus)

  • Define and drive the overall UX vision, design strategy, and user experience standards across all ZUS digital products.
  • Lead the end-to-end design process, including discovery, user research, journey mapping, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, visual design, usability testing, and implementation.
  • Establish, maintain, and evolve enterprise design systems, component libraries, and UX standards to ensure consistency across mobile and web platforms.
  • Review and approve user flows, interaction designs, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs to ensure design quality and usability.
  • Champion user-centered design methodologies by validating solutions through customer interviews, usability testing, analytics, and continuous user feedback.
  • Drive measurable improvements in usability, accessibility, customer satisfaction, and digital experience quality.
  • Ensure designs align with business objectives, technical feasibility, and brand consistency across all customer touchpoints.
2. Product Management & Product Strategy
  • Own the delivery backlog for one consumer product squad, working to the roadmap and priorities set by the consumer product stream.
  • Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements, customer insights, and market opportunities into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Serve as the Product Manager for one consumer product squad, leading backlog refinement, sprint planning, product reviews, and release planning alongside Engineering.
  • Contribute to product vision and strategy in partnership with the consumer product stream lead.
  • Conduct market research, competitor analysis, customer research, and product performance analysis to identify opportunities for product innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor key product KPIs, user engagement metrics, and customer feedback to optimize product performance and user experience.
  • Make data-driven product decisions through experimentation, A/B testing, analytics, and customer validation.
  • Ensure product delivery balances user experience excellence with measurable commercial outcomes.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Marketing, Data, Operations, and business stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Present product strategies, UX recommendations, and design concepts to senior leadership using customer research, analytics, and business insights.
  • Facilitate alignment between customer needs, business priorities, and technical feasibility.
  • Support cross-functional teams in translating complex business requirements into intuitive, scalable digital experiences.
  • Foster close collaboration between designers, engineers, and product teams to ensure high-quality product delivery.
4. Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, manage, mentor, and develop the regional UI/UX team across all operating markets.
  • Build and scale the regional design organization in line with approved organizational headcount and business growth plans.
  • Conduct regular coaching, performance reviews, career development discussions, and succession planning for team members.
  • Establish design governance, quality standards, and review processes to ensure consistency across all digital products.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and user-centric design culture while encouraging continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Lead design workshops, design critiques, and cross-functional collaboration sessions to strengthen UX maturity across the organization.
5. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • Stay current with emerging UX trends, AI-assisted design technologies, accessibility standards, and digital product best practices.
  • Promote experimentation, design thinking, and evidence-based decision-making across product teams.
  • Drive initiatives that improve design operations, team efficiency, product quality, and overall customer experience.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI and emerging technologies to enhance design workflows and product innovation.
6. First-Year Success Measures
  • Achieve agreed design system adoption and coverage across consumer app and web platforms.
  • Establish and maintain a regular cadence for user research and usability testing, with insights consistently incorporated into product development.
  • Deliver measurable improvements in consumer app session-to-order conversion through UX optimization and product enhancements.
  • Deliver the assigned squad's product commitments and agreed product KPIs.
  • Successfully build and develop the regional UI/UX team in accordance with approved organizational headcount.
  • Improve design delivery efficiency, stakeholder satisfaction, and overall design quality through standardized processes and governance.

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Product Design, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in UI/UX Design, Product Management, Digital Product Design, or User Experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of proven people management experience, including leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing a UI/UX team, with responsibility for performance management, design quality, and team growth.
  • Experience contributing to digital product delivery from concept through launch.
  • Proven experience partnering closely with Engineering throughout the end-to-end product development lifecycle.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design, enterprise design systems, and successful digital product delivery across web and mobile platforms.
  • Experience influencing product strategy through customer research, analytics, experimentation, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Solid understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern product development practices.
  • Hands-on experience conducting user research, usability testing, customer journey mapping, and accessibility reviews.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Skills & Knowledge in UI/UX (Primary Competencies)
  • Expert knowledge of user experience design, interaction design, visual design, information architecture, usability principles, and design thinking methodologies.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, FigJam, Miro, Adobe Creative Suite, and other modern design and collaboration tools.
  • Experience building, governing, and scaling enterprise design systems and component libraries.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), and cross-platform design best practices.
  • Expertise in user research, usability testing, customer journey mapping, service design, and design validation.
  • Strong facilitation, storytelling, and stakeholder communication skills.
Skill & Knowledge in Product Management (Secondary Competencies)
  • Practical understanding of Agile/Scrum product development cycles, backlog management, and sprint planning.
  • Familiarity with feature prioritization frameworks, user story mapping, and writing clear acceptance criteria.
  • Basic competency in tracking product analytics, user engagement metrics, and KPIs to support data-informed delivery.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering squads and cross-functional partners to drive execution.
