Position Responsibilities
This role will be responsible to lead the development, protection, and enforcement of the entire brand's intellectual property portfolio which covers Character, Product, Licensing and Ambassadorship.
This role ensures the brand identity is safeguarded across all touchpoints — from product packaging to in-store assets — while unlocking growth opportunities in local and global markets.
Commercial Brand Equity Creation
- Drives the creation and stewardship of brand intellectual property with a clear commercial mandate, ensuring all IP efforts contribute directly to revenue growth and demand generation.
- Translates creative equity into measurable business outcomes across product launches, retail performance, and licensing income.
- Activates IP consistently across packaging, in-store assets, partnerships, and regional market initiatives to maximise commercial impact.
- Aligns IP strategy with long-term brand scalability, supporting sustainable growth across local and global markets.
Strategic IP Development
- Develop and implement long-term IP strategies that align with brand and business objectives.
- Leverage the brand's intellectual property portfolio to support business growth and creative innovation.
- Partner with senior leadership, legal, and business units to advise on IP-related matters for brand expansion and licensing.
- Oversee the development of IP frameworks for new store concepts, product lines, and characters.
Trademarking Protection
- Manage the registration, monitoring, and enforcement of trademarks, copyrights, and other brand assets.
- Stay abreast of IP laws, trends, and enforcement strategies in local and international markets.
- Collaborate with legal counsel to manage IP disputes, infringements, and licensing agreements.
IP Custodian
- Work cross-functionally with marketing, studio, and product teams to ensure proper use of IP across all channels.
- Educate internal stakeholders on IP guidelines and brand protection best practices.
- Maintain an up-to-date database of IP assets and monitor global markets for potential IP risks.
IP Collaboration
- Identify opportunities for IP-driven brand extensions, partnerships, and commercialization.
- Collaborate on co-branding, licensing, and partnership agreements to maximize the commercial potential of brand assets while maintaining brand integrity.
Team Management
- Supervise the Brand IP team and external vendors to manage IP budget and resource allocation.
