Position Responsibilities
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a cross-functional engineering team building consumer-facing and internal technology products. You will own team performance, delivery execution, and engineer development, while maintaining the technical grounding to make sound decisions and contribute meaningfully to engineering direction.
You will work closely with Product, PMO, and Platform teams to maintain delivery predictability and execution quality. You report into the Head of Engineering and form part of the engineering leadership layer.
People and Team
- Direct line management of engineers across mobile, frontend, backend, and full stack
- Regular 1:1s with all direct reports — performance, development, and team dynamics
- Performance management, career development, and promotion planning
- Hiring — sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding engineers
- Team health — retention, engagement, and workload management
Delivery
- End-to-end delivery accountability for your team's commitments
- Sprint planning and health — commit accuracy, velocity trends, and scope management
- Removing blockers and managing cross-functional dependencies proactively
- Tracking and improving engineering metrics: deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, MTTR
- Owning post-incident follow-through within your team
Technical Quality
- Maintain and improve code review culture and engineering standards across the team
- Participate in architecture discussions — contribute a point of view, challenge assumptions, and represent delivery constraints
- Drive adoption of engineering best practices: testing, CI/CD, observability, documentation
- Identify and prioritise technical debt that impacts delivery or reliability
- Partner with technical leads on tooling, process, and platform decisions
Stakeholder Management
- Work with Product and PMO on roadmap sequencing and capacity planning
- Represent Engineering in delivery reviews and cross-functional forums
- Surface risks early — to the Head of Engineering, to Product, to leadership
- Translate business priorities into clear engineering scope, and engineering constraints into business language
