Regional Assistant Manager, Legal  

Position Responsibilities :

  • Draft and review a broad range of commercial contracts (vendors, suppliers, IT/T/services, licensing, NDAs) ; ensure consistency with approved templates and company policies.
  • Negotiate standard contracts within approved templates; escalate non-standard or high-risk clauses to legal leadership and propose practical alternatives.
  • Monitor and manage the contract backlog; provide timely status updates to legal leadership.
  • Coordinate and supervise external counsel engaged for specialized legal matters,
  • Support corporate governance activities under the Companies Act 2016, including preparation of board materials, statutory filings, and governance documentation.
  • Assist in the development and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and internal policies ; drive standardization and process improvements.
  • Advise on day-to-day legal risks in business initiatives, translating legal issues into actionable, business-oriented guidance.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple urgent matters concurrently, demonstrating effective time management and organizational discipline.

Qualifications & Experience :

1. PQE : 3-5 years of PQE in a relevant field (in-house or private practice), with demonstrated experience in:
  • Contract drafting, review and negotiation
  • Commercial and corporate law basics
  • Regulatory/compliance awareness and practical risk assessment
2. Education : law degree
3. Language :Strong command of English (verbal and written) ; ability to draft clear, concise legal memos and contract language.
4. Desirable Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience in retail, technology or manufacturing sectors, preferably in-house legal teams.
  • Exposure to IP management.
  • Familiar with data privacy regimes (PDPA) and data handling impact assessments.
  • Experience coordinating with external counsel and managing legal projects.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at various levels.
