Legal Counsel  

Position Responsibilities

  • Advise internally on legal issues on a daily basis: Use of word(s) for documentation such as agreements and Company policies & Legal processes and solutions for legal matters & disputes.
  • Contracts/Agreements drafting and review in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Explore all legal angles that could be beneficial to the Company.
  • Conduct legal analysis and research legal matters of the Company.
  • Update and follow up relevant laws and regulations related to the Company.
  • Prepare and maintain standard agreements (NDA, labor matters, consulting, administrative agreements, etc.).
  • Testify when needed, attend to court-related matters, and provide testimony to government agencies.
  • Collect and check accuracy of legal documents received by law firms/outsourced agencies.
  • Coordinate legal matters with outsourced agencies (Civil, Criminal, Employment Cases).
  • Prepare briefings/reports of litigation to the Management along with proposed solutions for each legal case.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law.
  • Experienced in Civil, Criminal, and Employment laws.
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in corporate legal work at a law firm and/or in a legal division.
  • Knowledge of commercial contracts, labor, intellectual property, data protection, law practices, applicable document development processes, legal records and procedures.
  • Three years of experience in drafting legal and business documents.
  • Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor.
